phew!  it’s been a while!  ohyesverynice studios has relocated to portland, oregon~for good this time!  as we’ve been packing and unpacking everything, there hasn’t been much blogging for a while…  hopefully this will change soon.  here’s a sketchdump to catch you all up on what you’ve missed…

i’ve been invited to be a contributor to the draw-bridge daily sketch blog, which is both a huge honor and a good way to get some more blogging done finally.  here’s my first ever contribution~the theme of the day is, “skeletons.”

i drew this for a guy who home brews beer and i thought it came our pretty neat.  this is maybe the second watercolor ive ever done but i think i like it and i might just do some more.

mostly lately ive been doing lots of portraits.  heres one from a late 60’s bar mitzvah!

a lot of them have been done through my etsy shop.  the deals posted on there should sell out pretty soon, then im gonna up my rates.  get yours while theyre still real cheap!

here’s a litte pin-up i did for a print version of benny comics, the very best comic on the whole internet.  it’s about a little man who dresses like a caterpillar.  his best friends are a tiny elephant and hedgehog who are married.  why don’t you just go read it right now?

im sure i left some stuff out by accident… ill be sure to update if i did.  anyway, since i kind of think its a rip-off to just post a bunch of promotional materials, heres kind of a fun thing that didnt make it into the final version of to teach.  we were coming up with ideas for the frontispiece and backispiece and i thought it might be fun to show some comics that were supposed to have been made by the kids in the book.   the results were pretty weird, which is why youll only ever see them here:

oh!  i have not blogged in forever!  sincerest apologies!  i was working on something unbloggable (knock on wood for that one) and teaching a comics class to 11 year olds.  my kids call me mr. ryan because there’s no way im gonna make them call me mr. alexander-tanner and they dont know how to process just calling me ryan.  one thing thats funny about teaching kids is when they make something thats inappropriate and you have to scold them and then you take it home and laugh your ass off.  heres a good example:

i got a piece accepted by the covered blog, one of the coolest comics projects on the internet in which artists of all kinds do renditions of comics covers.

this was a lot of fun and everyone should try it!  i think ill do another one sometime soon…
