Monday, February 9th, 2009THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
Wednesday, February 4th, 2009ok so i wasnt sure when i was ever gonna get to finally say what i am working on but it looks like today is the day! i have been collaborating for some time with bill ayers on a graphic novel version of his well-loved text, to teach. it’s going to be really amazing! here is a panel from the proposal draft that says it all:

that’s not a great indication of what the final book will look like… really, there’s not a lot to show just yet as the script has only recently been completed and is going through some edits/revisions. i’m just starting up the pencils for the final book and i’ve been doing lots of character sketches:

so there you go, that’s what the big mystery has been all this time. that’s why i went to chicago and that’s why there have been so many drawings of classrooms and bill ayers on my blog for the past 6 months or so. oh, yes, and thats also why i had a forrest gumpesque cameo on bill o’reilly.
the book is scheduled for release in spring 2010. yikes! i’d better get back to work!!!
the evolution of blues buns
Sunday, February 1st, 2009dave called me up and said he’s gonna make a new bread, called the blues buns. it is like the blues bread but in bun form. the logo’s pretty easy to get started on because it’s just a new version of this guy:

so i drew up these

and then dave calls me and is like, “those are rolls and they look all fucked up even for rolls.” then he comes over a does some drawings and i take some notes:

and then i’m like, “oh! get it!” and then i send him some more sketches:

and then he tells me what is and isn’t working and i do another one:

and then we talk about it some more and then i do a pencil drawing:

and then there were some perfectly valid corrections needed, like where the hole goes on the guitar, and then there was some pretty heated discussion about whether the shades should go over the top of the bun like that and i wont say who but somebody may or may not have thrown a chair. then i inked that shit!

and then dave had what i heard was a really fun superbowl party but i didnt go because who wants to watch the dumb superbowl anyway.
